January 26 is Australia Day. Reflect, respect, and celebrate this special day with the entire family. On this day, the National Australia Day Council is supporting the Burleigh Heads Rotary Club’s free Australia Day Family Fun Day.
From 11 am to 3 pm, head over to Tallebudgera’s Schusters Park and join other locals. Enjoy the following activities to honour the multicultural nation:
- Thong Throwing Competition: The thong-throwing contest from the previous year was highly amusing! Do you believe you possess the necessary skills to throw a thong? Participate in the Thong Throwing Competition.
- Magic Show: Enjoy free children’s entertainment, including games, face painting and a magic show by Mike the Magician. Everyone enjoys seeing magic happen. On Australia Day, be amazed by the spellbinding magic of Mike the Magician!
- Live Music: Red Cherry will be performing live Australian music. The Ozzie band’s favourite thing to do is a fantastic rock party with great hits.
- Walter the Whip: Catch Walter the Whip, a spectacular western show featuring whip cracking and fire tricks.

On January 28, enjoy a night of community, music, and meditation at Burleigh Beach. Kirtan Under the Stars is a night of soulful, conscious music that uplifts you. The whole spiritual experience includes:
- Singing and dancing in the moonlight
- Listening to music that makes you feel good
- Singing pious mantras
