Beyond its pristine beaches, verdant rainforests, rich natural parks, splendid waterfalls and the wonderful rare creatures and the abundance of wild life, Gold Coast remains a place full of wonder and legendary features.

Home to the dugongs and dolphins frolicking by the water’s edge, unspoiled mangroves, and the secret world of the amazing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, Jellurgal Aboriginal Cultural Centre is where you can experience an absolutely exceptional and worthwhile holiday trip.

Part one of tour that the centre offers is learning about the rich history and culture of one of the oldest surviving cultures in the world.

The second part is where you return to Jellurgal for a fascinating, traditional Aboriginal corroboree and traditional fire starting demonstration.

Experience their way of life as you start your Jellurgal trek with an ancient smoking ceremony and ochre anointment at Burleigh Cove, done by local Yugambeh tribe members.

You can then go to the midden and discover other significant Aboriginal spots throughout your journy. It takes 60 minutes to complete the Jellurgal trek although you can also choose to return to the Centre at the midden, which is 15 minutes into the Jellurgal Dreaming Trek.

Immerse yourself in the remarkable culture of Jellurgal’s Aboriginal group as you interact with them and witness their impressive and wealthy cultural collections. The Jellurgal Aboriginal Cultural Centre is where you can also watch Jellurgal’s in-house Aboriginal artists create traditional artwork. You can also explore other artworks and crafts that are specially made here such as the paintings for sale. Visitors can also closely look at Aboriginal artefacts such as digeridoos. dilly, boomerangs, bags, nulla nullas, shields, messages sticks, and other tools and instruments represent their everyday life.
